What’s Hot: Colored Eyeliner

July 16, 2015

Me? Wearing colored liner? What is happening to the world!? Yes, I do love my neutrals but colored liner is where the party’s at.

Why colored eyeliner? We’ve all heard that it makes your eye color pop (if you have dark brown eyes, you’re screwed), brightens up the look, and turns the boring-everyday routine into a fun makeup look. I totally feel wild when I have peacock blue liner on my waterline. Living on the edge #ThatsHowIRoll #NotReally.

How can you pull it off? Just use your imagination. There’s no right or wrong here. It can be applied to: top lash line (with or without a wing), bottom lash line, or waterline. Since the color is usually pretty intense, I tend to tone down lips and cheeks just to make the liner the star of the show, but that’s just me.

Which colored liners should you use? There are a lot of fabulous liners. I suggest you choose your favorite formula and search for a color that would complement your eyes. Otherwise, here are a few liners that rock my socks – yes, I just said that. Behold!

Clarins Aquatic Green Liner
This is one is part of their summer collection: it’s limited edition – so go get it NOW! It’s a very creamy and intense liner. I thought I wouldn’t like it as much because of its intensity, but it’s actually what made me love it. I used it in a summer look FOTD here.

NARS Rue de Rivoli Larger Than Life Long-Wear Eyeliner
I have a soft spot for green liners because my very first eyeliner was green – got it from Sephora in Paris (very exciting story). It comes with a built in sharpener – genius! This one is a beautiful metallic forest green. The formula is definitely not as creamy as the previous one, it actually drags a bit. But the color is gorgeous. Not complainin’.

Make Up For Ever I-22 Aqua Matic
The Aqua Matics are MUFE’s newly launched cream shadow sticks: a product that every brand is launching, at the moment. Just like the NARS liner, it has a built in sharpener that suits the thickness of the pencil. Personally, I would never use this color as a shadow: it makes me look like I haven’t had any sleep since the day I was born. I find it gorgeous as a liner though. The formula is very creamy, the color glides on beautifully, and it’s waterproof. I would’ve probably enjoyed it more if it was a bit more pigmented.

What are your favorite colored liners? Have you tried these liner before?

I came across you on Twitter and let me just say: You are SO PRETTY!
    I followed you (obviously!)!
I love coloured liner on the lower lash line – usually opting for green!
Oh, and it’s pretty cool that we’re like the same age, do the same thing (blog) yet live in different parts of the world (I live in London).
Anyway, it was lovely finding your blog!
    xoxo, Puja
