“New year, new me”. Challenge accepted. In 2016, you want to show the world that 1) you look and feel better than ever, 2) you’re a busy bee, yet manage to look flawless, and 3) you’re blessed with the best skin ever. Of course, none of that is true *digs out beauty potions from witch’s cupboard*. Welcome to Surviving Winter Skin 101.
We fail to constantly remind ourselves that skin is high maintenance, and only 0.99% of Earth’s population is born with an unblemished complexion. So don’t hide behind that layer of makeup 24/7. You’re normal, beautiful, and human.
Pep talk aside, here’s what’s saving my skin this winter…
I like to use The Body Shop’s Vitamin E Moisture Cream in the evening after my regular face cleanse. I lather on their Overnight Serum-In-Oil twice or three times per week for deep hydrating. Both do a wonderful job! If you have dry/very dry skin, I would recommend you to go for the Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream.
Even though it’s gloomy and the sun is nowhere near to be found, always slap on some SPF. I’m currently using Lancome’s Hydra Zen Neurocalm SPF 15 every morning.
To make you look young, fresh, and healthy, and to protect your skin from cosmetics, go for hydrating primers: they’ll make foundation glide on like silk and will help you avoid ugly, thick, dry, and cake-y looking layers of makeup. You know? My favorite one is Make Up For Ever’s Hydrating Step 1 Skin Equaliser primer.
Last, most important, and (honestly) cheapest tip: drink a lot of water! It’ll cost you nothing.
Any other secrets on surviving winter skin?
