Makeup : Review of Brule by MAC

March 9, 2013

I finally steped out of my little cocoon and got my hands on the very well known Brule. It was about time, I guess.

MAC has a huge range of eyeshadows. There are a few of that range that I’m not fond of. To be honest, I thought that Brule would be one of them. At first glance, it looked very chalky and “dead”. So, for me, it was a useless eyeshadow.
Do I regret what I thought about it? Yes.
I asked my sister to buy it for me to avoid any hesitation in the shop (I’m talking about the dilemma that we all go through: should I buy it? should I not buy it? do I really need it). Turns out I really needed it. Who knew?
I still believe that it looks chalky in swatches. However, the effect that it gives to the look when it is worn on its own is amazing! It instantly brightens up the whole look and highlights the eyes (did that make sense? It did, in my head). This eyeshadow is the perfect color for a natural look as in kind of blends with your skin color.
Brule served me well. Yes people, this plain creamy white/beige eyeshadow practically changed my life. Ok, maybe I’m exaggerating… a bit.
Ever tried Brule? Any pre or post purchase thoughts about it?

I have this, I love to use it as a base for a brown-y neutral smokey eye!

Is this product similar to Urban decay’s Virgin? Which one would you recommend?

Brule and Virgin are both great but completely different. Brule is a yellow toned almost matte eyeshadow. Virgin is a pink toned shimmery/frosty eyeshadow.
If you’re searching for more glow and drama, go for Virgin. If you’re searching for more simplicity, go for Brule.

      I hope that helped 🙂

Love Brule! One of my favourites. I use it on my brow bone as a highlight when I’m going for a natural look 🙂
