You’ve slept through your alarm and you just want to get ready and hit the road! Picturing the situation breaks you out in a cold sweat: applying primer, foundation, bronzer, blush, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara – that you just smudged under your eye after blinking (the horror!), lipliner, lipstick, lipgloss, perfume, throwing on the perfect outfit for your meeting scheduled in less than an hour, styling your jungle hair; and right before going out the door, you realise that you used your summer foundation shade. Oh boy.
The struggle is real.
There are ways to look gorgeous and to make three hours of sleep look like eight without consuming the little amount of time you have to get ready in the morning.
1. No foundation
Save that last drop of your favorite Chanel foundation for your date this Saturday. Instead, go for something lighter like a tinted moisturizer, a BB cream, or just concealer right where you need it.
Multi-purpose products are your best friends! My favorite one is Bobbi Brown’s Long Wear Shadow Stick in Taupe. It works great as a primer, a base for your look, and as an eyeshadow on its own. You can always use your bronzer in your crease, your light shimmery eyeshadow as a highlighter, and your cream blush as a lipstick or vice versa.
3. Plan the eye look
Create your signature everyday look: something that you now master so well that you can do it your sleep. Another tip is to keep your current favorites in a small basket on your vanity table. It’ll save you time and effort.
4. Less is more
Less is more a.k.a the golden rule. If you don’t usually master the art of winging your liner, contouring your cheekbones, lining your lips, and straightening your hair, then today is not the right day to feel adventurous. Instead, apply just a good coat of mascara, a quick pop of color to your cheeks, a tinted lip balm, and throw your hair into pony tail. Then again, if that wing is part of who you are, then go for it.
Any tips on downsizing the makeup routine time?
