Can someone take me back to Dubai!? Reality dragged me back to Beirut for university. But you know what? I’m not going to complain: I payed Sephora a long visit before I left. So here’s what I got..
Disclaimer: we don’t have a Sephora store in Lebanon which is a valid excuse for Lebanese to go wild at Sephora.
Starting with the new Lancome mascara, Grandiose. It promises to add volume, length and lift to the lashes. This ultra-black and smudge-free mascara should give a fan effect to the lashes with zero clumps. You probably noticed the unusual wand which works with the shape of the face in order to facilitate application. Also, the formula contains rose cell extract which nourishes and smooths the lashes. A lot of famous bloggers and youtubers raved about this one. I used it today for the first time. Still don’t know how I feel about it..
Skincare wise, I’m running out of everything at the moment. Don’t you hate it when this happens? A good moisturizer was desperately needed. After receiving a few recommendations on Twitter, I finally decided to go for the Clarins Daily Energizer Cream. My exfoliator was also coming to an end, so I picked up the Double Duty Exfoliator + Mask from the Sephora skincare line. I have to be honest, this was a bit of a “wild” move: I normally never get anything skincare unless I read 7384 reviews about the product first. If you tried it before, a comment below with your thoughts about it would be very much appreciated!
Next is a powder brush. I always contemplated the new-ish line of brushes that Sephora released: they’re soft, dense and, most importantly, they don’t shed. I find that my large powder brush from Sigma (not sure of the number, it got scratched off) sheds like it’s no one’s business. I always end up with tons of black bristles on my face that, one day, I forgot to remove one them and my dad thought it was a really long unplucked facial hair. Hashtag story of my life. Point is, I got #59 from Sephora which is a precision powder brush. I love that their brushes come with a lid. They’re great for traveling!
Last but not least, NARS! I went a little bit cray cray on the NARS counter because the brand relaunched in Dubai when I first moved to Beirut. First of all, the counter looked like a mess! A lot of the products were missing or sold out, lipsticks were ugly and smudged and nothing looked eye appealing. But I managed to pick up a few – scratch that, a lot – of things. Laguna bronzer has been on my wishlist since, like, forever ago. I tried it for the first time last year from a friend. It was love at first sight, people! Dragon Girl lip pencil also made it on the wishlist. So I got that too – duh. Then we have the eyeshadow primer which is, apparently, the best eyeshadow primer evah. I really needed this one as I ran out of mine. And, finally, I got a sharpener for, both, thick and thin pencils. Here at The Beauty Residence, we only accept sharpeners from NARS *flicks hair* (Never again! They cost 30 freakin’ dirhams. I’d rather buy one from the supermarket).
I was supposed to get more products like the NARS creamy concealer but my shade was sold out. Of course, it happens that everyone in Dubai has the same skin tone as mine. There were a few other skincare products and more makeup from Smashbox and Urban Decay, but, luckily, mother dearest was here to stop me from ending up broke.
Have a lovely day, beauties!
