When Bourjois first released their Rouge Edition Velvet liquid lipsticks, it was love at first sight. When I found three of their new Souffle de Velvet waiting for me on my desk, I jumped for joy! But they didn’t turn out exactly how I expected them to be…
Alright, so here’s the deal: Bourjois just released liquid lipsticks that are meant to be matte but sheer. Very different. Very interesting. Very exciting.
The moment these babies touched my lips, everything went wrong.
- they still have the same obnoxious scent to them – that I don’t really mind, to be honest.
- application is very patchy, as anticipated.
- I applied a second coat to escape any type of patchiness, but the finish ended up glossy instead of matte.
Cherry Leaders, Carameli Melo, Orangelique
The colors I have are Cherry Leaders, Carameli Melo, and Orangelique. The first two are gorgeous: a light cherry red, and a brick-ish red. However, that last orange is the patchiest and the shade isn’t even flattering – on me, at least.
I can always try to make the first two colors work, but overall, it’s a no for me. Sorry.
