The eventful season is back! Graduations, proms, weddings, and birthdays (put your hands up if you’re born in June too!) are right around the corner and you don’t want to look like either a vampire or an Oompa Loompa in your pictures. I like to perfect my base in 3 easy steps!
Primers are not my best friends. They always feel funny and they sometimes make foundation look bad on me which totally beats the purpose. However, I “rediscovered” Benefit’s Stay Flawless primer and started loving it again (full review here). This stuff is equivalent to magic. It refines your pores and smoothes out your skin beautifully. The only downside is that it dries pretty quickly, so you have to work with it (along with your foundation) in separate sections and blend blend blend instead of bleeeeeeeend otherwise it’ll make you look cakey.
Your foundation should be chosen carefully. If you know you’re going to an event where your picture is going to be taken, make sure your foundation doesn’t contain SPF – unless you fancy the ghost look, I know I don’t. My favorite photo-ready foundation is Laura Mercier’s Silk Creme. This gem literally covers up every blemish I have. It’s crazy pigmented! Also, it gives a gorgeous healthy glow. I normally set it with a powder, but the Benefit primer is enough to keep it on during a whole day.
I got my hands on the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer a while ago and it’s that type of concealer that makes your eyes say “I had a good night sleep” instead of “give me the coffee”. I love it! It covers up dark circles pretty well and leaves some sort of “light” that makes you look awake when you’ve had around 3 hours of sleep #UniLife.
On a totally unrelated note, I’m finally on Snapchat! Better late than never, right? Follow me on ‘beauty residence’ to get a glimpse of what I’m up to these days.
How do you perfect your base? Have you tried these products before?
