And we’re back with another foundation and another NARS product. By the way, I’m totally crushing on everything NARS, at the moment. I don’t know if you noticed (of course you did).
Basically NARS came up with a new foundation: the All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation. Its freakishly long name describes exactly what it promises. Way to go for creativity, NARS. Allow me to break it down for you:
- it lasts all day/a minimum of 16 hours
- it’s weightless and light-as-air
- only one drop is sufficient to cover up the whole face
- it evens out skin tone by cancelling redness, dullness, and discoloration
- it delivers a full, natural coverage
- it smooths out the skin
What do I think of it, you ask?
First of all, it is lightweight; it feels as if you weren’t even wearing foundation, which is very pleasant. Sometimes, I really do forget that I have foundation on because it’s a liquid formula (make sure you give it a good shake before applying it) just like the Maestro foundation by Armani, that I’ve never tried before, and it goes on very thinly.
And yes, one drop is all you need for your whole face as the coverage is insane! Before trying it out, I honestly thought “uh-oh this looks like water, what will it cover?”, but I was wrong. One point for NARS. It evens out the skin tone beautifully and blends seamlessly. I would add half a drop just in case I have extra blemishes that day. I like to apply it using, both, flat kabuki foundation brush and fingers.
Talking about formula, it doesn’t contain paraben, oil, SPF, alcohol or fragrance; this means there are no artificial scents causing headaches in the middle of the day, no jeopardizing the true color of the shade, no flashbacks in night photos and no disgusting pore clogging.
The All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation dries to a semi-matte finish, not too matte and not too dewy; just natural. It provides a good version of “natural glowing skin”. We can refer to that glow as “light” more than “dewiness”. If you’re searching for the plastic perfect look, then this foundation is definitely not for you.
So far, so perfect. But, and there’s always a “but”, since it lets skin breath so much, my normal-to-oily skin starts to look shiny pretty quickly. Setting it with a good powder should do the trick. However, I believe that a setting powder would ruin the beautiful finish that the foundation provides.
Also, I’m currently more into dewy looks. I’m not saying that I don’t like the All Day Luminous Wightless Foundation, don’t get me wrong; it’s all a matter of personal preferences.
One thing I should mention is that I was sent the Barcelona shade which is far too dark for me. I probably need a shade or two lighter. I actually look like a huge walking Oompa Loompa when I have it on – all I need is white eyebrows, green hair, a striped jumpsuit and I’m ready to go! So I should probably leave it for summer when I’ll be really really really tanned.
All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation (could this name get any longer!?) will be available in 20 shades. I know it’s already out in the US, but I’ll update you as soon as it hits stores in Dubai.
Would you give this foundation a go?
