Finally! A handful of interesting items that are worth labelling favorites. I’m very hard to please *flicks hair* Continue Reading…
I try to avoid high-end brands. They’re expensive and I’m broke. The basics. Naturally, we all love luxurious products and expect them to be good. Truth is, some of them are rubbish. Shocker. But then again, other pricey toys are simply outstanding.
Other than my five must haves, here are a few items that make me say I’m totally buying this again.
I personally think that no blush will beat Tom Ford blushes. The packaging itself makes you feel like the queen of Sheba. The formula is very buttery. The pigmentation is crazy. And the blendability is dreamy. You can’t ask for more. There aren’t that many shades in the permanent line. Nevertheless, they all look gorgeous. I have the shade Love Lust.
Chanel Chanel Chanel. The double C. The black and gold. The everything. Like our friend Mr. Ford, Ms. Chanel got everything right. For the lipstick lovers out there, the Rouge Coco Shine in Satisfaction is a must have. A go-to universal nude that can be thrown in the handbag but never forgotten. Yes, ladies. It is possible.
Then comes Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation. Although applying foundation during the summer is against the Zein laws, this product is worth the mention. It’s actually not a foundation. It’s more of a mask: full coverage and beautiful glow. Just make sure to shake it before using it and to set it after applying it. Other than that, enjoy the flawless finish!
And for the bold lip type of gals, this NARS combo will make you dream. The satin lip pencil in Yu and the Priscilla lip gloss are the perfect glossy fuchsia you’ll find on the market. I never go for fuchsias. Little did I know, they make my eyes look greener than emeralds. Truth. I’m definitely looking forward to trying out more satin lip pencils. And I’m in love with that simple statement packaging. Swoon!
Have you tried any of these products? What are your worth the splurge products?
I totally bought a crap load of makeup.
So I didn’t buy all the products in this photo. I received a few “souvenirs” that you’ll know more of later in the post. I posted on twitter that I was travelling to Lebanon for a few weeks and made a
short long pit stop at the duty free’s beauty department that had 20 per cent off on all products. Yes, 20 freakin’ por ciento. Crazy is what my mother and I were in front of the counters.
Now not all the products are mine. I’m sharing them with the big sister and the mother. But showing you the whole haul was necessary.
First at the duty free was the Chanel counter. My mum needed a mascara and a foundation pretty badly. After reading and seeing so many good reviews, I ended up picking up for her the Vitalumiere Aqua compact foundation and the Volume de Chanel mascara.
Another Chanel eye candy is the Rouge Coco Shine in Satisfaction. I saw this in Tanya Burr’s haul and knew that I needed this right away. Now that I have it, I can finally die in peace. I have a feeling that I’m really going to like this one. I can feel it in my bones!
Then the YSL counter happened. Heart melts. The YSL packaging kills me. It’s so luxurious and heavy making you feel like a thousand dollars just by looking at it. Of course, price tag inspired to faint. All products picked up from this brand are due to peer pressure (damn you bloggers and youtubers!). The Baby Doll Kiss & Blush are in shade 3, 9 and 12. The big sis is taking 3, mum is taking 12 and I’m taking the shade 9.
Next is this gloss in the shade Golden 19. The perfect pink nude. In reality it’s a tad bit lighter. And oh em gee it’s so pretty and not sticky. Yves does it best.
Finally are these Kiko products. My aunt went to Italy recently and she knows how big my love for makeup is. She got these palettes and lipsticks for mother and I that I just can’t wait to try out! The colours are so pretty in reality that the pictures don’t do them justice.
That is all for the haul! Sadly I don’t own this entire set of goodies. Nevertheless, I am going to try them all and hopefully report back. Have a great Sunday and Eid Mubarak for those of you who are celebrating!
Have you tried any of these? What have you bought lately? Leave a comment, would love to know!
So I’ve been hauling during the whole month and loving it. Zero guilt. I was planning on going wild at beauty stores to celebrate my birthday, the end of my exams and the end of high school. The damage was done progressively.
I haven’t been buying a lot of makeup for myself during the year. I’m just going to put it out there. A whole lot of reasons kept me away from spending my money on goodies like these: a) exams and school work kept me away from everything, b) I didn’t have any time on my hands or enough skin to try out new products and c) I would walk out of Sephora or Boots empty handed due to a lack of inspiration. There – I said it.
A lot of events happened during this month. My desk is filled with new products to try! Part of these events was Beauty World Middle East, the biggest beauty trade show in the region. I couldn’t bear the thought of missing out on it again. They basically present a lot of new brands on the market. I also saw well-known brands such as OPI, Orly, Dermalogica, etc. All of this rambling to say that I finally got the Seche Vite top coat! I’m so excited for probably the most boring product of this post. I have tried this already in different salons that use it as the top coat: amazing stuff.
I then payed a visit to MAC. It’s funny how I was so into MAC products a year or two ago. But now, it just got boring. Am I the only one who feels this way about the brand and its products? They have cool collaborations with celebrities and amazing collections. But the good stuff get sold out before hitting shelves. Don’t get me wrong, they do have great products that are part of my top favourites. Anyway, this visit was only for necessities. I had to get another Lingering eyebrow pencil and a brush cleanser. Okay, I lied. The brush cleanser is the most boring product of this haul.
Moving on to the fun stuff. I was craving a new bronzer and debating whether I should get the Marc Jacobs’ one which is pretty luxurious or the Clarins one that they release every year with their summer collection. My heart was telling me to go for the Summer Bronzing Compact from the Clarins Colours of Brazil collection (which was more expensive than the MJ bronzer). I could hear it call my name. The number of positive reviews this product got is cray! But more on that another time.
Last but not least are the last two purchases of the month: the Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation and the Translucent pressed setting powder. Believe it or not, none of my foundations match my skin perfectly. They’re either too light or too pink. Since my prom/graduation is coming, I rushed to Laura Mercier to get these two babies. I had my eye on them for so long. I initially wanted to get the loose version of the powder. But pressed powder is way more convenient and user friendly for me.
If you’re still reading this post that consists mostly of my boring life, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Have a great Tuesday!
What did you buy this month? Inspire me!
In three days, a new revolutionary product will be introduced to the public. I can’t talk about it just yet. So today, not only I have a sneak peek of this mysterious product, but I also have this month’s Glambox that you’ll be getting by the end of May.
Glambox has collaborated in the past with Benefit, and this May they are introducing to us other products that haven’t been featured or that have launched since their last collaboration together. I’ve already tried all of the products in the box – including the missing mysterious product, so I’ll be able to review them quickly.
Product reviews? FOTD? NOTD? I have a lot of stuff to show you that I don’t even know what to blog about first and how to blog about it. And seeing how much stuff I have to get done, this poor blog might be left behind. Simone came up with a new concept that is absolutely genius: speed reviews.
I do love small and quick posts that give you just the information you need, especially when it comes to products reviews. Speed reviews are exactly what they claim to be: short and sweet.
Summer is finally back in Dubai. Yes, yes. Summer. There is no such thing as spring here. Bikinis, tank tops, shorts and beach dresses are already popped out and the makeup has gone lighter. But no matter how hot it gets, nothing will keep me from piling up layers of makeup.
The look that I went for today is nothing new, really. It’s actually very similar to what I do everyday for school but with more makeup. It’s like an upgraded version of the everyday look.
So it’s the end of a little two week holidays for me. I’m going back to school on Sunday with a load of exams waiting for me. I can’t wait for this year to finally end. I’ve used all my mental capacities by using and abusing my brain. Other than that, a few products have entered the love circle this month.
We have the new Nivea in-shower Body Lotion. I was supposed to mention this about, er, three months ago? Whoever came up with this concept is a pure genius and a very lazy person. I don’t know about you, but every time I get a new lotion/body cream I get excited about it for the first two days and promise myself that I’ll lather my whole body with it everyday. Of course, I never keep that promise because either I hate the sticky feeling of body lotions, I forget or I’m too lazy. How does this genius-ness work? After washing your whole body in the shower, spread this on the areas you want to moisturise and then rinse it off. Voila. Mucho easy and simple.
Have a lovely Friday 🙂
Monthly favorites posts haven’t seen the light of day for a while, here on the blog, simply because I’m using almost the same products all the time and because nothing seems to be mind blowing these days.
Lately, I’ve been really trying to get good looking skin because:
a) I’m starting to breakout again (fyi I took the Accutane treatment), and…
b) I can’t be bothered to do my eyes everyday. Something has to look good!
This month, I got introduced to Eucerin products thanks to Glambox. The first product is their lip balm. I’ve already used this in the past. It’s one of the most hydrating lip balms that I’ve ever tried! It lives in my pencil case and I always pop it out in class. All the teachers stare at me with a weird look when I do that, haha!
The next Eucerin product is the Aqua Porin Active eye cream. I’ve never used eye cream before, just argan oil sometimes. Wow. I was definitely blown away by the difference it makes. It’s really refreshing and light, and it goes on smoothly.
Since I’ve been working on by skin more than eyes or lips, I’ve been switching between two foundations. The first one is my Holy Grail foundation for everyday use: the Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer. Love Love Love Looove. I’ve wrote enough about it, you can check out the review here.
Another foundation I’ve been using on my ‘good looking skin’ days is Skin Ideal by Une. I have a deep affection for the dewy glowy fresh finish this gives. If you’re a fan of dewiness and lightweight foundations, this is definitely for you.
The last product on my list has also been introduced to me by Glambox. It’s Lolita Lempika’s Elle L’aime perfume. It’s a mix of floral, fresh lime and coconut. It reminds me a lot of when I’m on holidays.
As for other random updates, there is the Dubai Cycle Tour happening during the weekend. Most of the roads are closed, that’s a bummer. But on the bright side, schools are off today which leaves me with a three day long weekend. Oh Dubai, how I love you!
What are your monthly favorites? Tried any of these before? Leave a comment 🙂
