The Skincare Routine

October 11, 2014

The amount of fancy beauty potions can sometimes be overwhelming. I never know what to pick up from the skincare department without guidance. I’m still learning, don’t judge. Also, the weather I went through since August was no help to my skin at all. Point is, my skin was terrible and I found a good skincare routine.

I’m following the classic cleanse/exfoliate/moisturize routine. I found that it works best with my skin. Although I have combination to oily skin, I’m leaving out the toner at the moment. I’m in Beirut now, not Dubai, there actually is the fall season. Toning my face is giving me dry patches around my mouth. So we’re ditching that.

Clarins Daily Energizer Cleansing Gel
This was a recommendation and I’ve been using it for about a week. I love gel cleansers. I think they’re the best at removing what ever is still hiding in your pores. This has a kind of a creamy feel to it which makes gentle. I found that it dries my skin to a lovely matte and velvety finish whereas other cleansers, well, they just cleanse. Err.. Duh. So far, I think this product is simple yet effective.

Mini Luna by Foreo
I’ve already mention this little interesting machine here but it deserve ten more mentions. Foreo came out with this genius concept: a rubber device that helps you deep clean your face. It’s more gentle than the Clarisonic (which I’ve never tried). I absolutely love my Mini Luna. I honestly don’t know how I’ve lived without this my whole life.

Lush Ocean Salt face and body scrub
Another relatively new product for me. It’s a chunky exfoliator that works great for face and body. It removes almost all the dry skin leaving your skin really smooth. Unlike other scrubs, I didn’t feel that it’s firming or that it tightens the skin. Weird.. I use this 2 to 3 times per week. It also contains vodka. Turn up!

Dermalogica Skin Prep Scrub
If I’m not using the Lush scrub then I’m probably using the Dermalogica one. This is amazing. I’m serious. It can be used on daily basis and it transforms your skin into the perfect canvas. I always go back to this scrub. We’re taking this on HG level people!

Bioderma Sebium Hydra moisturizer
This is the only moisturizer I use. Sad but true. Every time I try to go wild and get a new, I tend to go back to Bioderma. It never fails. Let’s just say it gets the job done pretty well. I couldn’t recommend this enough for people with acne or breakout.

What skincare products have you been using at the moment? Any recommendations?

5 Products You Need

September 1, 2014

I came to notice that there are exactly five products I can’t live without (hence the name of the post. Duh.) Even though I don’t use them all on daily basis, they are still necessary items to own.

Starting with my beloved Clarins bronzer. I’m not going to comment on this a lot as I’ve featured it enough already on the blog in the past two months. I think it’s the best bronzer one can have to warm up the face a bit when feeling like a zombie or to contour. You can read more about it here, here and here
Then we have Benefit’s They’re Real eye makeup remover. Dear Lowd! I don’t know what’s in that stuff but it’s CRAZY! I kid you not, it removes bulletproof eyeliners and mascaras. Now, I don’t use eyeliner everyday. But when I do, I use this to take it off. What bugs me a bit is that it’s a creamy consistency. So the removal is kind of messy.
Have you heard of Foreo? I haven’t before trying it out. It’s a rubber device for deep cleansing. Apparently it’s better and less harsh than Clarisonic (never tried it, so I wouldn’t know). People, this is were the party’s at. It gets into the deepest of pores. Cleansed and polished is what you feel after using it. In less than a week, you’ll start noticing that your skin is improving. I have the mini size one which has less features than the normal size. I’ll probably do another post to talk more about it. I honestly don’t understand how I’ve lived 18 years without Foreo. Everyone needs this.
NARS illuminator in Hot Sand. A very pearly sand colour which gives the most natural healthy glow. I like to apply it in a “C” shape going from cheekbone to brow bone. Be-you-ti-ful. Also NARS is coming back to Dubai in October. The ones who are not excited should be kicked out of the county.
Last but not least is YSL’s Kiss & Blush. Whatever the colour is, you need one of those. It dries matte, lasts for a good while and works perfectly for lips and cheeks. We all love multitask products, don’t we? Well this one won’t fail to impress you. Very good investment.
Have a lovely day!

Skincare : Neutrogena’s Visibly Clear Gentle Exfoliating Wash

February 23, 2014

There is some sort of universal tradition that consists of getting your first facial wash from Neutrogena. Name me one teenager that never used this brand before. See? No answer. When I was younger, my first skincare product was Neutrogena’s Oil Free Acne Wash. In this post, I’m going to talk about another famous cleanser of theirs: Visibly Clear Gentle Exfoliating Wash.

Indeed, most of us used this when we were younger. But what is really interesting is that it has another effect on me now than it did back then when I had severe acne. Anyways, I’ve been using this for over a month now and I’m kind of hooked to it.

It’s a very gentle exfoliator and cleanser so you’re not damaging your skin unless you’re really heavy handed. The reason why I love this the most is because you don’t need to exfoliate with a different product afterwards as it contains blue microbeads. Holler to all the lazy people! It is designed to deep clean and clear out pores. Now, I do feel like my face is really clean after using it. But I’m not so sure it is the best at deep cleaning as it is quite gentle.

I use this in the morning and/or at night. The best time to use it is after a post-workout shower. You come out of your bathroom feeling so fresh, young and polished – not that I’m very old. Lately, I’ve been changing my skincare routine a lot – simply because I have no routine, at the moment. However, I keep on going back to this product.

Which cleanser/exfoliator are you using now? Have any of you tried this one?

Monthly favorites : My September Favorites!

October 5, 2012

My beauty favorites this month are mostly things that I have rediscovered in my collection or a combination of several products.

Now that I’m done with the Accutane treatment, my skin is going back to normal. This means that it’s getting oily again. I needed to find another cleanser that suits my skin type, so I went back to my old cleanser, the Bioderma one. I admit that it’s a bit drying at first and you feel that your face is pulled back. But with a moisturizer right after it, everything will be just perfect.

I never thought that I would love a lipstick like MAC’s Cream In Your Coffee. Sometimes I feel that it’s a bit too dark, but it actually isn’t. It’s a cremesheeen formula, so it goes on super smoothly. Lip combo with this lippy coming soon!

Moving on to blush… Now this is a blush combo that I’ve been using everyday for the past month. It’s Lovecloud (satin) and Gingerly (sheertone), both by MAC. I initially bought Gingerly as a bronzer. But after buying it, I thought it looked to orange on my face, so it stayed at the back of my drawer for quite some time now. I finally found a way to use it properly, along with Lovecloud.
For applying this combo, I’ve been loving the Sigma F40 large angled contour brush.
A post will be up soon to show you step-by-step how I like to use them!

Finally! Here’s the most exciting part of this post… Behold! Laura Mercier’s oil free tinted moisturizer! I’ve tweeted and instagramed this product, so you’ve probably seen it already… I’ve been using 2 to 3 times a week at least and I’ve been LOVING it! Review coming soon!

You can get the Sigma brush by clicking here and get 10% with this code DEAL2012 !

What are you favorites this month? Have you tried any of the products mentioned? Tell me what you think of them in the comments below 🙂

Monthly favorites : My June Favorites!

July 1, 2012
Hey everyone!
June has come to an end, it has been the busiest and the most stressful month of my life! I’m kind of glad that it’s over… Anyway… It’s time for a monthly favorites!!

You might know that two days ago I flew to my hometown. And I’m going to Italy soon! Going to shop ’till I DROP! 😀 So I won’t be blogging as much 🙁

Back to favorites! I’m going to start off with the eyeshadow Phloof! by MAC.

I’ve been loving this to highlight my inner corner, on my tear duct area. It’s very frosted and pigmented, so use it carefully!

I got the Lovecloud blush on my birthday, by MAC as well and I L.O.V.E it!

Not blended; Blended (not very visible in the picture)

I think this blush has replaced my Pinch O’ Peach blush that I have talked about in the previous monthly favs!
You might have read already my review on the Revlon lip butter (here). I got the lip butter in Cotton Candy and I absolutely love it!

My favorite brush of the moment is the Sigma F80. I love using it for foundation! You probably know that already and read my review about it! You can find it here
Finally is the cleanser that I have been using religiously day and night for 2 months now. I forgot to put it in my may favorites. But I still love it, so it counts as a favorite for this month! It’s the Philosophy’s Purity cleanser. Click here for its review!
That is it for this month’s favorites. I hope you are all having a wonderful day! Today I went to the beach and got a lovely tan! But don’t forget your SPF girls! And now I’m repacking for Italy!!
What did you do today?
What are you enjoying this month? Tell me in the comments bellow! 🙂

Skincare : Review of Purity by Philosophy

May 20, 2012
Hello lovelies! How was your week-end?
Today I’m reviewing this product called Purity by Philosophy. I bought the 8 oz bottle to try it out because I’ve heard great things about it.

Philosophy is a skincare brand suitable for all skin type and specially for sensitive skin.
Now if you already know me, you might know that I used to have sever acne. But now I’m under doctor’s subscription and I’m taking these pills called Roaccutane. It’s been four months and my acne is already gone, I still have two more months to go! Yeppi! (happy jump!). Now I have normal to combination skin in summer and normal to dry skin in winter. Before the treatment I used to have really oily skin trough out the year, and I used to use a face cleanser by Bioderma called Sebium. It worked like a charm when I had oily skin. But when I used it during my treatment (which tends to dry my face), my face got so dry that it hurt. Plus, this treatment made not only my skin, but my whole body as well sensitive. So I have to be extra careful with what I use on my face, what I eat, bla bla bla… But that’s not the point.
The point is, I bought this new face cleanser that I’m reviewing today. I love that it’s more than that! It’s a cleanser, a makeup remover and a toner! (+++) How awesome??! I was on a hunt for the perfect toner, I was relieved that it was included in this product.
It was really weird to use it as it doesn’t foam once you start rubbing it on your face.
After using it, I felt that my face was stretched as it would be after I wash it normally, but it wasn’t to stretched to the point of being dry.
I tried to remove makeup with it. To be honest, it removes your makeup in a rather strange way. It kind of melts it. Weird, I know. But it wipes of foundation really well, it removes mascara as well as waterproof makeup. If you have a lot of makeup on, I probably wouldn’t recommend using this product.
In Dubai, a bottle of 8 oz costs AED95, however in the USA (according to the philosophy official web page – linked down bellow) the same bottle is worth $20, which is nearly AED74.
Needless to say, I love this product even though I’ve used it only for three days! I’ve noticed a lot of changes, specially on my T-zone where my pores are quite large. I’m 100% sure that I’ll be repurchasing it after I go through my first bottle.
I use this product in the morning and at night and I’m really enjoying it!
Two thumbs up for Purity! I’m already convinced that Philosophy is a great brand! I might go back and purchase their exfoliator (I can’t remember its name), the lady at the counter told me that it’s also amazing stuff!
P.S: I love the fact that put a little philosophical text at the front. It sounds so deep! :’)
This product can be found here and at Sephora in Dubai, UAE.

What is you favorite cleanser at the moment? Tell me it comments bellow!
