I Finally Tried Kylie’s Lip Kits

August 2, 2016

Kylie Lip kits candy k and exposed

I fell for the hype. I started binge-watching Kylie Lip Kit reviews. And so, an order was placed. It’s funny because my first instinct after placing that guiltless order was to binge-watch the bad reviews filled with venom.

After finally receiving that month-long delivery (thank you USPS), I realized that they are nothing like what I expected them to be.

The Daring Yet Subtle Lip

January 23, 2016

I’ve never ventured in the “brown nude” lipstick section. It doesn’t get deeper than dusty-pink nudes and reds. But I’m currently ditching my lips but better, and opting for more defining shades. Enters Kat Von D’s Lolita Everlasting Liquid Lipstick.

Get Pouty : Must-Buy Lipsticks

June 21, 2015

Lipsticks are my favorite products. I love looking at them, trying them on, swatching them, and BUYING them, but for some unknown reason I don’t wear them that often – until now. I’m not really sure what happened, but I’m totally hooked to lipsticks. Plus, the nude-girl in me has been loving bold colors too. What is happening to the world? There are two lipsticks in particular that I’m loving this month.

Get pouty : Jane Iredale’s LipColour in Renee

October 4, 2013

When this little gold tube arrived at my door a few weeks ago, I thought that it was going to be a normal lipstick just like every other because a- I’ve never heard of this brand before until I was sent the Pommisst (featured here), and b- the name “LipColour” was a bit of a turn off for me, I’m not sure why. But as soon as I opened that little tube, none of what was mentioned mattered. Believe me.

To be honest, my relationship with this lipstick starts with the packaging. You probably think that there is nothing special about that plain gold tube of coloured cream product. This look actually reminds me of my grandmother’s lipsticks when I was still a child. Ever since I was three or four years old, I would watch my mum and grandma do their makeup and, of course, open their makeup drawers secretly and slap on the deepest red and pink lip colours onto my lips. Despite the fact that I always ended up looking a bit bloody, it was my favourite thing to do. Hence, the makeup obsession!

Back to the Jane Iredale’s amazingness. I decided to do a list of what I love in this because I can ramble about it until tomorrow. No joke. Here it goes:

1. The slightly blue toned berry colour in ‘Renee’ is simply divine. 2. The colour is buildable so it can be sheer (for those of you who aren’t very daring with bright colours). 3. The texture is absolutely marvellous and it applies very smoothly. 4. It’s a matte formula but not the drying matte like the MAC ones. It’s actually very buttery. So you can wear this even though your lips are chapped. Cha-ching. And it has enough sheen and shimmer to avoid the “flat” lip look. 5. I strongly believe that it heals the lips as well. Mine are always extra smooth after having this lipstick on. 6. It doesn’t leave the very annoying pinkish slash reddish stains on the lips after makeup removal which I feel like it’s a first world problem. 7. It has amazing lasting power. And I remember eating a Pinkberry and it was still there afterwards. 8. It’s packed with essential oils that the lips will only benefit from. 9. It doesn’t leave white stuff that you get on the corner of your lips because it’s been on your lips during the whole day or because you’ve talked a lot.

Heavy swatch of LipColour in Renee

When my lips and Renee first met, I can swear that I had a lipstickgasm. Ladies and gentlemen, if you are not familiar with this word, it’s basically a feeling that one gets when the lipstick applied is amaze-balls. “Oh. Dear. God” remains the short version of this review. With all the lipstick that I’ve tried until now, this is placed in my top 5. I can sometimes be very picky with my choice of words when it comes to glorifying a product as I always have something to complain about. But Jane Iredale’s LipColour is marvellous.

Get Pouty : Chanel’s Coco Rouge in Liaison

June 9, 2013

Being part of my May favorites, it wouldn’t be fair for the Chanel lipstick to not have an individual post. As you may have read in my previous post or seen on Instagram, my lovely sister came back to Dubai with a little surprise for me: an extremely classy black and gold lipstick bullet in the shade Liaison.

Lets discuss packaging. I’m sure we can all agree that Chanel is one of those brand with the most chic packaging. Who doesn’t love a good Chanel product? The black and gold tube along with the engraved “Chanel” on the lipstick, both, immediately make me feel like the queen of Sheba.

The product glides on smoothly and evenly onto the lips, leaving a satin sheen finish and a divine creamy, hydrating texture. It actually feels quite light on the lips. Liaison is a warm soft mid-toned pink, great for spring and summer (and all year round, really). It’s definitely a pinky “my lips but better” type of shade. It tends to go on a bit sheer compared to other Chanel lipsticks that I have tried in the past. This is one of the main reasons why I fell in love with it in the first place, I guess. If it were really opaque, my lips would look like Nicky Minaj’s, whereas they look more like Audrey Hepburn‘s lips in Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

I love this lipstick even more because:

a) the actual lipstick has a bit of a fragrance to it, the one that every Chanel product has. And…
b) it makes my eyes look greener. I’m sold!

As I am extremely daring when it comes to lipstick colors *caugh*sarcastic much?*caugh*, Liaison works puuurfectly for me. I’m sure this lippy will find a very comfortable spot in my handbag throughout this summer.
